Product: HP 85A printer cartridge

I have printer cartridges (HP 85A) that I have had only a couple of years that have never opened (not the box or the plastic wrap around the boxes) and I don't need them any more.  I found a date on the box of 2011...are these cartridges still good?

HP Recommended

The shelf life of a sealed toner cartridge is 3 years, they can be good for more years depending on storage conditions. It's almost impossible to know until tested.
