I printed out some math homework for my son last night, but when I tried to print an Amazon return authorization today, I got nothing.
I've reset the print system on MacOS and installed HP EasyPrint. It's been a long day. I can see the printer's web page, and use it to print a test page, so (a) I'm connected and (b) the thing prints. But, when I execute the print job on the documents, it gets to 20 % done, then tells me the printer is not responding.
I tried a different document, and it got to 41 % done before it gave up. So,
(a) it worked yesterday
(b) My laptop connects to the computer fine. HP Utility can tell me all sorts of valuable things
(c) The printer prints
(d) I get the same result when I'm on the 24.GHz that the printer is on or the 5 GHz WiFi network
(e) it's not the document
(f) software on my laptop and on the printer is up to date
(g) my wife is in the same state

Try doing a Power Reset on the printer, hopefully it will help:
First, make sure the printer is plugged straight into a wall outlet and not a power strip, surge protector or UPS.
With the printer plugged in and powered ON, disconnect the power cord from the printer. This will hopefully dissipate any electricity stored in the printer that could be hindering it.
Wait at least 30, preferably 60 seconds.
If there is a power switch, turn it to the OFF position.
Plug the power cable back into the printer.
Turn the printer ON with the power switch.
