Hello.  I have updated the firmware, tried turning off unnecessary services, but the printer keeps intermittently changing the language on the control panel to an asian language instead of English.  Why?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you facing this issue after an update?

I have sent you a private message, to Reset the printer depending on the model that cannot be shared in a public post.

Can you please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

The printer still randomly changes the control panel language to non-English.  I reset the printer and it still happens to this model.  g3q75a is product number and [edited] is the serial.

I see that you were interacting with @Raj1788. I'd like to help.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Refer this HP document for the steps to update the printer firmware:- Click here

Refer the step 3 mentioned in this document to change the language:- Click here

(Note:- Though your printer model is not supported in this document, these should fix the issue)

Let me know if that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Firmware is already up to date. Last available update was July 2018. I am able to change the language back to English. The problem is, why does it keep changing and why is it able to be changed from the printer web page even before logging in with admin credentials?

Ideally language should not change unless it is changed manually.

If it changes automatically, then this could be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Why would I mark this as solution accepted? You did nothing to help except recommend things that I said I already did. And it says you are an HP employee so why are you referring me to HP support when this is exactly where it took me??? The printer is out of warranty so HP only provides this forum as support but clearly its worthless just like the printers themselves.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Cheers.
