My HP Laserjet makes a screeching/squealing sound when printing. This has been going on for several weeks and is quite loud. Sounds like it needs to be oiled. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this would be appreciated. Other than that this printer has been very reliable.

Hi,
ear-splitting sounds are often but not limited to refurbished/refilled Toner Cartridges going bad. You can replace the cartridges one by one starting with the oldest cartridge. Maybe you have some used or empty ones at hand? Alternatively there may be another method, but the printer needs to do an initial rotation of the mechanical system with cartridge(s) removed. I can't tell you properly if this model is doing such rotation. Then you can narrow it down by pulling them out one by one 'til the noise stops. If it's not related to the cartridges it may be the ITB or ultimately one of the numerous bearings and gears, which to clean and lubricate can be a very time consuming task.

So I have a Laser Jet Pro MFP M277dw which has just started a high pitched squeal when printing. One suggestion was to check if a particular ink cartridge is the problem or that some bearing might need lubricating. The HP site has not been that helpful. Does anyone have experience lubricating the parts that might be squealing?
