HP mfp m281fdw
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Hi,

I recently put new toners into my HP mfp m281fdw printer having been told that they are compatible even thought they aren't from HP. Having read through other posts, I can see the problem stems from new firmware being downloaded onto the printer that stops anny third-party toner cartridges working. Apparently this can be fixed by downloading an older version of the firmware but this is no longer availble from the HP website. I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on new toner cartridges from HP when they are no better quality, and I have perfectly good ones if only the newer fireware didn't make them incomplatible for profits reasons.

Does anyone have a link to download the older version of firmware that I can download (I am using a mac OS High Sierra, 10.13.6

I have asked an HP employee on the support network directly but they have only said to make a public post so I would be very grateful for any help anyone can offer me!

Thank you in advance.

This is an issue for you to sort out with your 3rd party cartridge provider.  If HP wants the cartridges to work then the 3rd party will deliver a solution to you after working with them.  That may require them to send to a replacement chip or set of cartridges with the new chip preconfigured.

Call your 3rd party cartridge provider and work the problem out with them rather than rolling back the firmware on your printer.
