Product is HP Color Laserjet Managed Flow MFP E57540.
I am currently getting error code 49.38.0C but when I try to open the pre boot menu to install, it just never opens up and leads me to the error code again.

Hi @Eduardo79

Error code 49.38.0C is typically associated with firmware issues or potentially corrupted print jobs causing the printer to malfunction. Here are steps you can take to resolve this error:

  1. Power Reset:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
    • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the error persists.
  2. Isolate the Printer:

    • Disconnect any network cables or USB connections to ensure that no corrupted print jobs are being sent to the printer.
  3. Boot into Safe Mode:

    • Note: This may not always work if the printer is continuously rebooted due to the error.
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Turn it on and immediately start pressing the Home button repeatedly on the printer’s control panel until the preboot menu appears. This can sometimes take a few tries.
    • If successful in bringing up the preboot menu, navigate using the arrow keys or touchscreen (if applicable) and select “Administrator”.
    • Look for firmware update options or options to reset the specific firmware causing issues.
  4. Firmware Update:

    • If you can access the preboot or administrator menu, perform a firmware update. You will likely need a USB drive with the firmware downloaded from the HP Support website.
    • Ensure to download the correct firmware version compatible with your printer model.
  5. Clear Print Queue:

    • Ensure all pending jobs in the print queue of any connected devices are cleared to prevent sending corrupt jobs again.
