The printer keeps refusing to resume printing unless I print an additional print job.

The printer did not do this before, it is not a printer issue. It has to be a either a software or firmware issue. I'm guessing some sort of software issue, as it is only happening with my new computer, and not the older ones. I've ran the diagnostics, it finds no issues, it only resumes printing after I print a test page, an additional document, or cancel and reprint the jobs that are stuck in the queue.

From reviewing other posts this does not appear to be an isolated incident with just my system, and none of the responses to those posts were helpful.

Check the port type the print driver is using. On your PC go to control panel >devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties.  Click the ports tab and see what type of part. If the port starts with WSD, that is likely your problem as WSD ports are notoriously bad at updating printer status after an error or put of paper issue and so the printer never comes back online. For network printer better to use a Standard TCP/IP port.

Ok, so now how do I change the printer port?

Print the network status report for the printer to obtain the IP address of the printer. Then follow the steps below.

Go to printer as instructed in my first post. Click ports and then add port

Select Standard TCP/IP and click New Port

The port will be configured and when completed you will see this window, click finish.

Confirm that the new printer port you created has the checkmark next to it.
