Hi,
After windows 10 did a big update, I'm unable to print anything using my laser jet 1020 printer. A box comes up with the printer name displayed, but it's staus is displayed as 'idle '. The box lets me select what I want to print, but when I click ok nothing happens and the box disappears. Any advice would be great.

Hi @JanetCh1 ,
Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Barachiel is at your service.
I understand you are in need of support,
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
When was the last time it worked without these issues?
I suggest that you follow the step by step guide listed below to reset the printer:
1.Disconnect if there is any fax or USB cable connected to the unit and then turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2.With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
3.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
4.Wait at least 60 seconds.
5.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
6.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
7.Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period.
8.Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!
Regards,
Barachiel

Thank you very much for replying to my message. A google search found a post showing the same problem as mine. I tried the solution given ie uninstall the printer software then used the CD that came with it to reinstall and it sorted the problem.
