Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

I want to print on cardstock on my HP LaserJet Pro M402dn. I couldn't find any instructions online, and paper weight / paper stock is not mentioned in the User Guide.

I tried this:

In Quark, I selected Command-P, then Printer, then Paper Feed, then All Pages From Manual Feed

I can find the same menu option in Microsoft Word (Paper Feed --> All Pages From Manual Feed).

I pulled down the manual feed part of the printer (large white area above the paper tray) and sent the print job. I left the main tray in its regular position.

The printer displayed a message that I needed to press OK. I pressed the square OK button.

The printer was able to print on heavy cardstock (110 lb). It lifted and pulled the paper through and out the top, where normal paper comes out.

Questions:

1. What is the recommended upper limit of the weight of cardstock, so the printer is not damaged?

2. Is there any way to print paper in a straight paper path? My old 4MP would print on heavy cardstock when I opened out a special pathway at the back of the printer.

3. There is no Paper Type / Paper Weight option in any part of the onscreen Print menu inside my Mac applications. Should I select the paper weight using the menu on the printer itself? Is that one of the menu options? If so, what would be the sequence of button presses and menu items displayed to change the paper weight?
