M4555 MFP

Recently purchased a M4555 MFP Printer scanner copier at a business auction.  It is password protected to sign in.  Need help with resetting the machine so that we can sign in and start it up.

Hi Bulldog7,

When "1/8" appears, you will have to quickly press the "X" button of the keypad. This way you will gain access to the preboot menu. To navigate in the pre-boot menu use the keypad as:

"3" goes up

"9" goes down

"6" is OK

Although this printer has a touchscreen, it is not working before the printer boots to ready. Use the keypad instead.

I hope this may help you,

Cheers!

cold reset or partial clean should do the trick

1. Turn the Laser printer on.

2. The HP logo displays on the printer control panel. When a "1/8" with an underscore displays below the HP logo, touch the logo to open the Preboot menu.
3. Select the down arrow button to highlight Administrator, and then touch the OK button.
4. Select the down arrow button to highlight Startup Options item, and then touch the OK button.
5. Select the down arrow button to highlight the Cold Reset item, and then touch the OK button.
6. Touch the home button to highlight Continue, and then touch the OK button.

Thanks for the input.

I have tried recommendation below a dozen times, but printer will continue to cycle through startup to the sign in page.  Cannot get to the Preboot menu.
