HP OfficeJet Pro 7730

Hi all,

Does anyone know why HP has provided me with a Refurbished printer and not a new item?

A clip that supports the paper has broken from the duplex unit and i was told by HP that the whole unit has to be replaced. The unit is under warranty and is already a refurbished a replacement which was installed in December, because the "New" one installed a few months before December was faulty.

HP refurbishes printers to replace faultily users printers. In occasions when refurbished devices are out of stock, a user can get faulty printer replaced with the new one. The faulty device goes back to HP to be repaired/refurbished to meet HP standards.

Low-end printers are replaced faulty one for working one ( refurbished).

Other printers mid and high range are repaired by parts replacement.

Thank you for explaining what happens.

Does anyone know why?

Why? Because you after you have unboxed the printer you have a used printer. Like any industry, the printer industry reserves the right to either repair or replace with a like unit. Can you imagine if you got a brand new car every time you had a problem? Based on my industry experience I can tell you that probably 75% of units returned to HP as defective have no problem at all beyond user issues. It is not fiscally or environmentally prudent to just throw them out, when they can be redeployed.

Sure but considering the initial "New" printer was faulty and then was replaced by a refurbished one in December, i'd say i paid for a New HP Printer and ended up with a Refurbished one.

Can you imagine if you got a brand new car that was defective, then you're given a refurbished one instead?
