Laserjet M602
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I manage a fleet of roughly 400 Laserjet printers, mostly the M602 and M605 Enterprise models. We perform maintenance by rounding quarterly - not based on device utilization. We commonly receive Helpdesk calls because the user sees the "Maintenance kit low" message on the screen. It does not stop them from printing, but the message itself confuses the user. We have implemented the latest version of the HP Web Jetadmin utility, and I have configured an automatic group to identify printers in this condition. Now I need help creating a configuration policy to reset the maintenance counter.

I would like to reset the maintenance kit counter remotely. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Many thanks!

Update: I spoke with HP and verified that resetting the maintenance counter remotely is not supported.

You can accomplish this remotely using a less automated approach: Access the printer via its web interface and log-in with the administrator credentials. The "Remote Control Panel" link will appear on the left-side of the page. From there just navigate the printer menu as you would in-person and reset the maintenance kit that way.
