Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
We have bought 2 printers for the company.
HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdw and HP Color Laser Jet Enterprise MFP M577 hoping that these printers would help us in our goal for PAPERLESS environment.

The only thing that we have some problem setting up is the "Email Setup" or "Scan to email".
We are always getting errors in setting up the SMTP Settings.
We use some of our domain emails and still we are getting errors.

We use our G Suite, Personal Gmails and also our SMTP Server from Spark Post.

Cloud Print and HP ePrint were working and no issues at all including some Scan/Print in local network.

Printers was on a Static IP, DNS 8.8.8.8, 8.8.8.4.4,
I also followed some instructions from the forums and manuals.

Thanks

H,

The SMTP settings are provided by your email provider, those are not special for an HP printer...

From seeing your notes, I could see you've set a secondary DNS of Google Public DNS, it might be a type but please ensure you use 8.8.4.4 and not 8.8.8.4.4 as you listed...

Additionally be sure to enable Allow Less Secure and disable 2-step verification:
First open the following link and ensure you are logged on to the same account as you are setting for the printer.
https://myaccount.google.com/

Within the Sign-in & security section click on Signing in to Google and ensure that "2-Step Verification" is set as "Off".

Within the left pane click on Connected apps & sites and ensure that "Access for less secure apps" is set as "ON", otherwise the verification will fail.

For G-Suite you may also need to allow users to us the Allow less secure apps at the organization level as described below (Enabling less secure apps to access accounts):

Once you are done run a test for the outgoing user profile and check if the problem been resolved.

Shlomi

Hi,

Sorry for the typo error.. it is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

I have tried all the steps from the forum and it doesn't work either.

- Allow Less Secure Apps

- Turn Off 2-Step Verification.

Also tried some personal gmails and G Suite accounts but still error occurs.

What exact error occurs when performing the test?

Hi,

I have tried my personal email on the HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdw and it works.
smtp.gmail.com, port 465, TLS/SSL.

But with the HP Color Laser Jet Enterprise MFP M577 still doesn't work.

Error " The operation failed. Please verify your configuration and try again."

Even with the same settings. 2 printers were located in the same VLAN/Network as well.

I've also tried other smtp settings recommended by google but issue still persist.

HP Color Laser Jet Enterprise MFP M577
- Firmware Version 4.6.0.1
- Firmware Revision 2406048_029627

Btw. these Printers have different settings in configuring the SMTP Settings.
Pro have a bit more detailed settings while the Enterprise one have a simple one interface.
