I've had my printer for like 9 years, so It's certainly lived a long life. It's worked fine and I haven't used genuine Toners when restocking on those.
Lately though the red warning lamp has started blinking, sometimes it goes away sometimes it blinks for weeks. This also makes it unable to print occasionally. If i open it up pull the toners out pushing them in again, closing the door, opening all the "doors" and closing again then it eventually/often works again.
I've read something that NON genuine toners doesn't always communicate with the printer and thus making the printer believe it's still using an old toner which can be full but registered as almost empty. So saw some stuff that people resetting the page counter and/or changing to a custom firmware which takes away the counter completely/always resetting it when it's turned OFF/ON again.
Either way, I haven't found a proper solution or a functional URL to these custom firmwares or guides on how to do. So I'm asking here, hoping anyone can give me some tips on what could be causing this and how to solve it.
