HP LaserJet Enterprise M608
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I currently use an HP Scalable Barcode Font (model: HG282TT) on a USB drive in my HP LaserJet Enterprise M506 printer to print a barcode on some reports.

I recently upgraded the printer to an HP LaserJet Enterprise M608, but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the fonts.  When I print my reports, the regular text looks normal, but the barcode fonts are erroneous characters.

According to this web page, the font should be compatible with my model printer.

Is there something I need to do in order to enable the barcode font feature on my printer?  When I inserted the USB in my M506 printer, it just recognized it....

If you use the test print function on the printer, does the PCL font test show the barcode fonts? If not then the usb is likely being recognized. Where are you plugging in the usb stick? You may need to get a B5L28A internal usb kit for the printer. Also make sure that if you are plugging into the external ports that you have host usb enabled.

Thanks for getting back to me Repairatrooper. I had tried plugging the USB into the port on the back of the printer as well as the port on the front of the printer (under the small white cover). The fonts were showing in the list under the USB1 section when I would print the PCL Fonts list... However... I think I made the most basic blunders of all IT... I didn't reboot the printer after the USB was inserted... Since the PCL fonts were in the list, I figured it was being recognized and didn't need to reboot... After a reboot, the barcodes are functioning as expected... Thanks for your help!
