HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M281fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I continue to receive the 79 service error message on my HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M281fdw. I have it connected to my work laptop (windows) and my personal computer (Mac). It has happened every since a document I tried to print didn’t. I have read the manual and tried everything I can think of. Powered down, rebooted Xfinity modem, cleared print jobs, connected with usb straight to laptops etc.  I even powered down, went to service and reset defaults then set WiFi network and updated laser updates. It will start to go in print cycle then stop and flash the error 79 message. Something is causing the printer to do in error 79 mode every time I try to print. Can anyone tell me  tell how to clear the message so I can print again. I need the printer for my work and nothing is working.

Hello @Evans65 ,

Below are the steps that you need to follow in the order as mentioned ...

  1. Disconnect the printer from the NETWORK
    1. If on wired network : Unplug the  Ethernet cable from back of the printer.
    2. If on wireless network : Power of the Wireless router.
  2. Turn off the printer. Wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn on the printer.  If the printer is in READY state, go to Setup -> Network Setup -> Network Services -> IPv6 -> Off.
  4. Turn off the printer. Wait for 30 seconds and then turn on. Try printing , it should work.

Let me know if it worked for you.
