I have an HP P1102W that is barely six months old but somehow it's missing a pin in the USB port so I cannot connect it with the cable. Other than that it's brand new! I use this on different jobs so it's always traveling and going on different wifi connections. How can I connect it wirelessly without using the cable? Also because I use whatever wifi a business has I don't have the option of using WPS.
I saw another post that showed how to print out the device configurtion and enter the IP address on my laptop browser but that does nothing. I just get "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading messages."
The last time this was used was on a different network.
I'm on a MAc OS 10.7.5

Hi @SuperC,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you want to know how to setup the printer over different networks, without using the USB port to configure the network and the WPS setup. I would like to help you out today. If this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. If you wish to say thanks for my effort to help, click the " Thumbs Up " to give me a Kudos.
Since you can't use the USB connection to configure the printer and WPS, then you would have to go through the Wireless Direct on the printer. It would have to be enabled. This can be enabled by running the software (Windows) or accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server by the printer's IP address and turning it on.
You can print a Configuration page to see if the Wireless Direct is turned on already, HP LaserJet Pro Printers - Printing a Configuration Page or Report.
You would have to restore the network settings on the printer each time that you want to connect to another network.
To clear out any previous network settings, please do the following:
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
If you had enabled the wireless direct on the printer previously then do the following:
Type 192.168.223.1 into Internet Explorer's address bar.
It will load the printer's Embedded Web Server, select the Networking tab, wireless on left side, and select infrastructure, fill in encryption, (network passwords) Apply the settings.
Then add the printer on the Mac.
Please let me know the outcome and if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you.

I've printed the configuration page but I dn't see where it would say whether Wireless Direct is already turned on.
Under Wirless Status it says = Disabled.
It has the IP address of 192.168.223.1 but whenever I enter that into a browser it brings up a error page.
If I clear out the previous settings will it help? If the Wireles Direct is not already set up is there a way to turn it on?

Hi @SuperC,
The 192.168.223.1 is the Wireless Direct's IP address. I have provided the steps for configuring the printer from the Wireless Direct's IP address to Infrastructure. (your new network)
Click the Airport on the top right corner on the Mac.
Click on the HP printer from the list.
It takes about 3 minutes to connect.
(you won't be on the internet till this procedure is finished)
Open up your web browser, (Safari) type in the IP address 192.168.223.1 for the printer.
This will load the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Now we can configure the printer over the wireless network.
Click on the Networking tab, on the left side click on Wireless, fill out your information for the network. (SSID-Network Name, set it to infrastructure, fill in your passwords and encryption type)
Apply the settings.
Now go back to the Airport near the top right corner on the Mac and select your network name.
We just have to add the network printer on the Mac now.
Click on the Apple.
Click System Preferences, click the Print and Scan icon, then click the + sign.
Then select the printer from the list.
You might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name from the list.
Then click on Add.
Test the printer.
Since you are still in warranty and the USB port is broken on the printer, I would Contact HP Support and inquire about a replacement printer. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.
Please let me know the results. Thank you.

Hi Gemini,
I don't see the HP when I go to the Airport. (By Airport do you mean the wifi icon?) When I click on that I don't see anything that says HP. I've hit the wireless button on the HP just in case that helps but I still don't see it.

Hi @SuperC,
Yes, I mean the Wi-Fi icon.
Please restart the Mac and try connecting to the printer again, to access the printer's Embedded Web Server.
You may have to restart the printer also, and possibly restore the printer defaults.
Let me know how that goes. Thank you.

My HP P1102W doesn't have a USB port so I cannot connect via wire.
It doesn't see my network althought the hub is located about 2 metres away so 192.168.223.1 does not open.
The blue WIFI light flashes for about 60 seconds before shutting down.
How will I get this printer connected to my MAC?
