I have been using your HP smart app to try to re-initialise this printer but the setup wizard asks me for a password just after I have entered the wifi password. According to your documentation that password request shouldn't appear.
I have reset the network settings and also tried to do some factory reset explained at https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Lost-EWS-password-for-HP-LaserJet-Pro-M15W/td-p/7289.... I don't know if that explanation is correct since you don't have proper docs anywhere.
In EWS I also have the same issue as in https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/Lost-EWS-password-for-HP-LaserJet-Pro-M15W/td-p/7289... but for some reason you chose to send the requester a PM with the correct solution so that's not much help.
The network printout says the password is 12345678 for direct print and that is the only password I have seen anywhere. It doesn't work of course, neither in the EWS or in the HP smart wizard when adding the printer.
Would it be possible to get a confirmation on wether it's possible to do a proper factory reset or if the network reset is the only option necessary to get a complete restore of the printer? Reason is that the printer was setup about a year ago but was never used again on that network and I now cannot make any changes because my older father doesn't remember if he set any custom credentials.

Hi @friis
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
- There is no option to factory reset this model printer.
- 12345678 is the wifi direct password. You use wifi direct when you need to connect the printer to a computer or a mobile device but do not have access to a wireless router.
- For more info on wifi direct, kindly refer to this document.
Let us use the WPS method to connect the printer to the network.
-
Locate the WPS button on your router, but do not press it yet.
If your router does not support WPS, skip to the next step to connect the printer with the HP Smart app.
-
Turn on the printer. If the printer is in sleep mode, press the Cancel button on the control panel.
-
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button
for at least 3 seconds or until the wireless light starts to flash.
-
On the router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds or until it shows that the WPS connection process has started.
NOTE: The printer stops searching for a WPS connection two minutes after the wireless button is pressed. If you were unable to press the WPS button within that timeframe, attempt these steps again.
Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
