Laserjet Pro MFP M477fnw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, we've used this Laserjet Pro MFP M477fnw forever with good results, only ever using HP OEM Cartidges, running cleaning cycles periodically, but recently it's developed a problem where it seems like some ink is being 'held' on some surface (presumably some kind of roller based on the pattern) from each print, and then it's smeared onto the next thing printed.  I can't for the life of me figure it out.  I tried all the troubleshooting (automated and not) and cleaning type cycles I could find.  I've run through various print media and it's universal to the media (plain printer papers, cardstocks, etc.)  Lower ink density settings etc., don't stop the problem, so it seems mechanical to me.

Any ideas?  I'd love to not have to replace a perfectly good, expensive printer if it's something I can figure out.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but your fuser has delaminated and will require replacement. An OEM fuser will likely cost between 400-500 dollars. You might find non-oem or rebuilt for considerably less. I am curious about your page count on your printer, but my guess would be between 30-40K pages

Our colleague is right, it looks like a Fuser unit problem, and it is not so cheap. An alternative solution is change only the roller+film inside the fuser (see picture bellow), and spend about 20$. Some times just this roll is damage, and if you change, printer works well. To make sure, try to open your printer back door, remove the fuser unit and take a look on it.

Do we know the part number of the fuser roller and film?

HP does not offer these parts for sale, the items pictured are likely a third party item you can find on Ebay.
