HP LaserJet Pro P1102w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The sofware setup is not working. I downloaded the software, it extracted and then nothing. I have tried multiple times connected to the printer with a USB and without. I shut off all Antivirus software, tried running it as Administrator and nothing. This is a first since Windows10 updates nicely screw up my printer settings with every update. Any ideas?

Hi:

See if this works...I downloaded and saved the file.

I don't have your model printer, so I didn't run the file after I downloaded it.

However, using the free 7-Zip utility that I use to extract program files from an exe file, I do see a HP Setup file which you can click on to run.  It opened for me and asked me how I wanted to install the printer.  So, I closed out of the install.

Use the free 7-Zip utility at the link below to do this...the 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit operating systems.

https://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the printer driver file you saved.

Select 7-Zip from the list of items.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name.

Once that is done, open the folder 7-Zip created, and after you pass all of those language folders, about 15 files down the list, you will see a blue Hp Setup application file.

Double click to run that, and see if you can install the printer driver that way.

Hi, Paul

I tried the steps with the 7-Zip utility and I got the message on all files "Access denied....." so it seems that solution will not work. Thanks for the information on 7-Zip!

You're very welcome, Rob.

That might explain why the file ran and extracted for you and did nothing more...some kind of security glitch, because I had no problem running that Hp Setup application file inside the folder.

The usual W10 security box popped up and asked me if I wanted to run the file, I clicked OK, and off it went.

I know you tried running the main file as adminstrator, but you might want to try right clicking on that inside Hp Setup file, select 'Run as administrator,' and see if it runs that way.

Thank you Paul. I will try that. I'm literally brain drained trying to figure out what Windows 10 did to prevent me from running this the normal way. I have a message into their "Help Desk" to see if they know what's happened.

Thanks again.

Anytime, Rob.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Aren't these semi-annual W10 updates fun?

I haven't had one go smoothly where I didn't have to deal with some kind of driver issue on my PC's.

Fortunately, I have been able to still come up a winner (for now).

Hi,

Please restart your PC, then browse to C:\LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution

Double click HpSetup.exe and follow the installation.

May you launch the installation using that method? that should do the trick on the latest Widnows 1803 Update.

Hi, Paul

These updates are my daily (almost) nightmare. And I can't even shut them off. They just happen after I go to shut down. I suppose I could figure something out and block all downloads but then that brings its own problems.

Thanks,

Robert

Hi, Robert:

You can use this utility to selectively prevent many troublsome updates from installing.

Hi, Shlomi

I tried that and all it gave me were dll files....no executable on install. I'll try using HP's web site program to see if that helps.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Rob
