Printer refuses to print certain file formats and sometimes stops in the middle of a print to give the below error message.

We have both mac and windows computers connected to our printer, however it is mostly (not exclusively) the Mac computers that get the following error:

 

POSTCRIPT Error

Subsystem: PARSER

Error: InternalError 0xc8

File Name: PDFSender_Interp.

Line Number: 1771

Error Information:

Reported by PDL

Failed reading startxref number

 

We have updated the firmware and doing a self test on the printer, but can't locate the reason for the error. Others with a similar problem seem to have fixed the problem by switching from airprint to HP Easy Scan, however we are already using Easy Scan.

 

What could we be missing?

May I know which File Formats are you trying to print?

 

Please ensure your Mac has all the latest updates.

 

Mac update: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2015

 

After checking all those details Remove and Re-add the printer using Airprint. AirPrint is an Apple technology that helps you create full-quality printed output without the need to download or install drivers.

 

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint or Secure AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

6.) Try to print

The solution generally works really well, however we do not necessarily experience that AirPrint works that well for us.

But following the rest of the solution and then re-adding the printer normally seems to solve the issue.

However we have not tried the secure AirPrint, but I can't really determine what clear difference there is?

The only difference is that Secure AirPrint enables you to print securely to any wireless printer in an unsecured environment like using public network

Hi Krazy Toad,

 

Thanks for the proposed solution, however for me it did not work. Both Secure AirPrint and AirPrint did not result in a solution.  I had to choose HP solution to make my printer print from Adobe Reader DC.  Printing from 'Voorvertoning' had no problems.

 

This happens once every year. Is this problem related to HP drivers or Mac ?
