M551 color
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had ordered an HP image belt for our M551dn color printer. When it came in however, the only way to get it in would have been to forcefully force it in.

The old one slipped in and out with no problems. The new one looks like the same size, shape, and same in every way except it doesn't fit.

Are there similar looking parts that are different and how do I know if I'm ordering the correct part that will fit?

What part number did you order and what was sent? Was it a new OEM transfer belt unit or a rebuilt/refurb one?

I show part number CF081-67904 for the ITB kit from my service manual, which has the transfer belt and the secondary transfer roller. Be careful not to touch the mylar belt part while handling the new one.

I also show part# CC468-67927 for the ITB (intermediate transfer belt) from a different supplier- but they should be the same thing.

on the back side of the transfer belt, make sure there is no packing tape stuck on the white drive gear or anywhere else. Also you may try taking out the print cartridges and installing the new belt.

don't force anything tho! best of luck

Tonerspills,

Thanks for the response. The part I orderd and that they sent was a CE249A part number. It was new in the box. I did remove the orange tape on it. I will see if I can get the part numbers you provided.

Thanks

I also tried taking out all the toner cartridges but that didn't help. The part number I got may have been for a maintenance kit. I'm not sure but it came with some rollers as well. Either way I couldn't get the image belt in with out force.

This was ordered from B and H photo.

Thanks again.

Do you have a supplier you like to purchase parts from?

That part (CE249A) shows its for the CM/CP 4025 - 4525 and some other models like the M680 series. The differences are very subtle between it and the transfer belt you need. The little rollers for the paper trays are going to be the same, but I don't think the belt you have will work 😞

I'm a field tech for an office supply company, so I buy parts from all over the world. It mainly comes down to who has in stock what I need at the time 🙂 Depot International and Synnex are probably my 2 largest supplers, but I use Liberty Parts out of Wisconsin as much as possible- cause I love their customer service 🙂 Most of your OEM suppliers all have the same product, it just comes down to availability.

The 249 will not fit. Yes they are very similar and it will insert about 1/4 of the way before stopping.
