LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I continue to get a "Supply Memory Error" after attempting several fixes shown on other boards, though not specific to my particlar LaserJet Series, the LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw. I'm using a very relaible after-market toner company LD Products and have had great success using their cartridges in all other HP and Dell printers. Thinking it may be the chip, I returned the original LP Products toner cartridge I purchased and got a replacement only to have the exact same issue. Consequently I'm in printer jail and cannot use my printer, please help!

Hey there! @Dean90808, Welcome to HP forums.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out. Let me ask you a few questions in order to assist you better.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Do you get any error code along with the supply error?

Have you tried checking with a different toner cartridge?

Let's continue with the troubleshooting now.

Try updating the printer firmware to the latest version and check if it helps.

Update the printer firmware using  this link. Click Here

There is a communication failure with the imaging drum.

  • Turn the printer off and then on.

  • Remove and then reinstall the imaging drum.

  • If reinstalling the imaging drum or restarting the printer does not resolve the error, replace the imaging drum.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot supply errors on your printer. Click Here

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. It is a hardware issuew with the printer.

Unfortunetly your suggestions did not work and I continue to get  a "Supply Memory Error". I followed the link and updated the Firmware but I was unable to remove and re-install the imaging drum for my LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw as I don't know where it's located. I thought by removing the toner cartridges it might reveal a button to push and release the cover of the printer to expose the imaging drum, as you can guess no such button was located nor did I see anything externally that would do the same. So can you direct this naive anti-techy person to the location of the imaging drum and I'll be happy to see if that works. Final point, this HP device is brand new so it would be surprising to me to discover the imaging drum is faulty unless this is something that can happen even to a new printer.

Thanks for your continuing assistance.

@Dean90808,

As you still have issues after trying out the steps.

It certainly sounds like a hardware issue with the printer.
