HP Color LaserJet MFP M281fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer window indicates "Supply Problem".  I replaced the cartridges and restarted the printer and still have this same error.  Thank you in advance for any help!

hp is blocking third party use of toners via firmware update.

Just roll back the firmware (link available in other chat) and printer should work just fine. I had the same problem and is now solved.

how do you roll back the firmware update

I had the same problem. I rolled back my firmware to 20200612 and the problem went away.

HP seems to have added a block to 3rd party cartridges.

Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure what the procedure is to get the printer to actually install it. I've tried both wireless and USB and the printer doesn't seem to receive anything when I send the file to the printer. Are there instructions somewhere? Thanks!

Thank you soooo much..  i was pulling my hair out and didn't know what to do. I was about to buy a new printer

How do you do the rollback?

HP Recommended

If you're running windows 10 64 bit you simply run the file. It should find and connect to your printer automatically.

Thanks - but it doesn't. I've tried running it several times. I've enabled accepting downgrades on the printer itself. Just won't recognize it. Tried via wi-fi and by USB. Nada. Getting extremely frustrated with this idiocy.
