I've the problem here.

I've 3 3rd party color cartridges working perfect for months.

After replacing the black (bought together with the color ones, I assume same brand) I got a supply memory error indication with only a question mark on the black toner.

There is no 10000.1001 or some similar code mentioned at all.

I've bought another brand 3rd party toner which also has same problem and this one also is already replaced by toner supplier and also didn't solve the problem. Both toners were send back to supplier and they tested them and in their HP printer they were working correctly. This problem must be in my printer. I've already updated to the latest firmware of may 2018. Al reset tests etc are already done.

Please help me

Thank you for responding,

This is the Riddle_Decipher, again!

It's great to have you back 😉

Since you've mentioned that the spring of one of the 2 gold plated contacts aren't working anymore or is stuck, i suggest you go check this, if the issue reoccurs: (Although I hope the issue is permanently resolved)

I'm sending out a Private message with the information you need to get this sorted,

@Stijnos

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand there's a supply memory error

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

  • Did you upgrade the firmware using the HP recommended steps?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

The printer performs correctly, but 'Supply Memory Error' displays on the control panel.

Generic steps (as I don't know what product you are referring to) - To resolve this error, make sure that there is not any packing material in the printer or on the print cartridge, or replace a defective cartridge.

Eagerly awaiting your response for accurate steps.

Keep me posted,

For I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, if you don't get back to us 😉

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

After the 3rd not working toner I though the problem must be in the printer. After aome inspection I figured out that the spring of one of the 2 gold plated contacts that come down when you close the front door isn't working anymore or is stuck.
After disabling the whole printer I was able to pull down this contact again. Unfortunately the repair manual did not describe how to disable these toner chip contacts. So now it's only temporarely solved.
