laserjet 1018
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently returned my computer to factory settings.

I had no problems with my printer before.

After installing my printer it printed the test page perfectly - but after that nothing has printed.

I just keep getting a message saying  computer not responding.  Can anyone help?

Hi @franklintuesday,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your printing issue.

I understand that you recently restored your Windows 7 PC back to factory settings and since have not been able to print from your HP LaserJet 1018 Printer. I would like to help with that.

I would start by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing issues.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

In fact, if this helps you to reach a solution please click the "Accept as Solution", and the "thumbs up" buttons down below in this message. 🙂

Thanks!

Thankyou for your help.

I have done what you suggested. It said everything was okay - but it would not print the test page.

Thankyou again.

Hi @franklintuesday,

Thanks for getting back to me.

The first thing I do when the HP Print and Scan Doctor says everything is OK but does not print the test page is uninstall HP Printer printer related software. Here is a support document that can be used for reference if needed - Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows).

If you are prompted to restart the computer when doing the uninstall, go ahead and do it. If you are not prompted to restart the computer, restart the computer after the uninstall finishes.

Once the computer is ready download and install the driver that is available for Windows 7 - HP LaserJet 1018 Printer Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver.

Please let me know how that goes.

Thanks!

Hi @bracha,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your printing issue.

I understand that you are able to print a test page from an HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer but you are unable to print a document. I would like to help with that.

Will you please let me know what operating system your computer is running?

What program are you using to print from?

Are you able to print from other programs, or unable to print from any?

I will watch for your reply so I can look further into this for you. Please reply at your convenience.

Thanks.

I can print a test page but nothing else.  I am on Windows 10 and am using an HP 7110.  I have updated the drivers and have run the Scan Doctor.  I don't know what else to try.

Please help!

Thanks!

i would like to report what resolved my issue in case it helps someone else. i have my printer set at draft quality. i also print black and white only. when the ink level got too low, the ink wasnt hitting the paper and i got blank pages. switching back to normal quality resolved the issue - as did putting in a new ink cartridge as well! thanks for this forum
