My printer (M252dw) worked well for the first few days. However, as of today, when I print Word documents containing images and text the image will print in colour but the text will only print in black. However, if I convert it to a PDF the text appears in colour.
I am aware of the 'Print all text as black' option under Advanced Printer Preferences and that option is not ticked.
I would appreciate any help you can give with this.

Hi @CPowell1212,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues printing in color from Word on your HP LaserJet Printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you tried to print from different applications? Such as Notepad, Wordpad
Did you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Are you able to make a copy from the printer?
Have you tried to repair or uninstall and reinstall Word?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
This looks to be an issue with the drivers, let's try to uninstall and reinstall the printer software:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13 ). Restart the PC
14 ). Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/LES/M252/HP_LaserJet_M252_Full_Software_and_Drivers_15309.e... and install the updated printer software.
15 ). Connect the USB cable and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.
