Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums After reading your post I see that you are unable to insert toner cartridge. I will be a delight to assist you here.
Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score.:)
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
When did this issue start?
Did you do any troubleshooting steps before posting on forums?
Meanwhile
Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Then follow the below steps to replace the toner,
-
Open the front door.

Grasp the blue handle on the toner cartridge drawer, and then pull out the drawer.

Grasp the handle on the toner cartridge, and then pull the toner cartridge straight up to remove it.

Remove the new toner cartridge package from the box, and then pull the release tab on the packaging.

Remove the toner cartridge.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge. Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print quality problems.

Grasp both ends of the toner cartridge, and then gently rock the toner cartridge back and forth to distribute the toner.

Insert the new toner cartridge into the drawer. Make sure that the color chip on the cartridge matches the color chip on the drawer.

Push the toner cartridge drawer into the printer.

Close the front door.
