HP Color Laserjet Pro 452
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have seen the above error in multiple forum threads but none of the comments and possible solutions are working.

We have a Color Laserjet Pro 452 that doesn't want to print unless we go to the printer and click the OK button to use available media.

Before someone says, you have to verify the properties of the computer that is sending the request and the settings of the printer, we have already done in multitude.

There are two trays, 1 is with A4 plain paper and the other tray is a manual feed tray.

So, we are only using tray one. This printer worked for a number of months now and now a couple of weeks we constantly have to press that OK button.

Configuration report of the printer:

Tray 1 Size: A4, Tray 1 Type: Plain

Default Paper size: A4, default type: Plain

Tray size prompt: Off

Manual feed: Off

Settings on the computer:

Under Paper/Quality

Paper size: A4

Paper source: Automatically Select

Paper Type: Plain

I have started the printer, pulled out the power, waited for +15 seconds, put it back in and tried again.

I have then whent to the service menu and used "Restore Defaults".
The printer starting doing things and restarted.

The my problem was resolved.

Now we are able to print again without having to press that OK button.

Not 100% sure but your issue is probably the fact that the manual tray is Tray 1 and the tray you think is tray 1 is actually tray 2 which is the way hp numbers its trays. So you need to check the settings for tray 2 at the printer. The best setting for that tray to choose size and type as any to both.
