HP PageWide Pro MFP 477 DW
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since 04/04/17, I have been unable to print from the main tray (tray 2).  Does not matter what program I use, the printer keeps asking me to insert paper in tray 1 to print a document.  I do not want to use tray 1 when tray 2 is the main tray used to print documents.

So to put it bluntly, the printer is using tray 1 as the default tray when it is not!

Thank you for your help

The prompt implies that the incoming print job has specified a combination of paper size (e.g. A4 or Letter), paper type (e.g. Plain or Letterhead) and paper source (tray identifier) that cannot be satisfied with what the printer has been configured to understand is present in each of its trays, or that the 'manual feed' source has been explicitly selected.

Configure the printer (via front panel menus, or Embedded Web Server equivalent for network models) so that the paper size and paper type is different in each tray.

Then when you initiate a Print request, ensure that you select (via the required Print Preferences dialogue) the required size/type of paper, and set the paper source to 'printer auto-select'.

I'm sorry I don't understand your answer.

I have the same issue, but with a Laser Jet Pro MFP M426fdn printer.

It will not print from page 2, as a start, it ALWAYS asks for paper to be put in Tray 1, which is a labels by-pass tray.

And, I'm sorry, I don't understand the answer Dansdaduk entered.

Can you please enter an answer for me.
