Thanks.

You skipped a word, but I believe you're referring to Acetone...correct?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm going to tear into this this weekend, or next week. I miss my printer.

Just to wrap this up. I vascilated for months, and then tore into things. The fuser wasn't dirty, and cleaning the roller did nothing.

I bought a genuine HP part online, from Precision Roller, and installed it. The printer now works again. Still not happy with the longevity of the fuser unit.

Thanks for the input.

Thank you for the feed back.Sometimes the teflon on the roller do get so worn out that cleaning does't help anymore.Glad you got the machine going again and printing.Should you needany more assistance feel free to contact the Forum.

Have a great Day.

I'm thinking that letting the printer be on continuosly made the fuser 'wear out' prematurely. It gets used as a scanner more than a printer. The print count was very low. I'm going to power the unit down unless we need to print from now on.

Time will tell.

BTW, the link you posted for the manual is dead. I found the service manual at http://www.lbrty.com/tech/Manuals_HP/M276sm.pdf

I've downloaded it for future use.

Well...that was $140 wasted on a genuine brand new HP part. I went to print today, and I got the same 50.2 fuser error.

I wish I hadn't just ordered more toner cartriges.

Anyone have any ideas?

Out of desperation, I did a cold reset.

Now I'm getting a 50.4 fuser error....and after power down, and back...50.2.

Let me ask a simple question. Is the printer plugged into the wall socket or into a surge protector. If a surge protector plug direclty into the wall. That said your comment of having the printer on all the time does not matter. The fuser on your machine uses a ceramic heater which is only turned on when you print so wether the printer is on or off no voltage is going to the heater until a print job is sent. If the printer is still not working see if you can return the fuser to the vendor for refund. If that is possible then contact hp and see if you can use their repair option to get your printer repaired or replaced with the same model. They usually have a flat fee where they send you a replacement printer and you move your consumables to the replacement and send the non working printer back in the same box you received the replacement. They usually pay for shipping and the cost is probably close to what you paid for the fuser alone.
