1. Having just updated the firmware and found that using a USB connection made the firmware update work rather than my ethernet connection (might have been me being impationt tho!) I was wondering what the concensus is regarding connetions. Is USB better/faster etc compared to ethernet connection to my router?
If I can also ask if it's best to leave the printer ON at all times rather than switch it off when finsihed using it please?
Thanks
Graham

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
It isn't necessarily faster with either USB or Ethernet connection. However, if the printer is connected via Ethernet, the printer will have access to network and internet which will enable mobile printing capability and web services features like, automatic firmware update, ePrint capability etc.
HP Printer's are energy efficient and have sleep mode capability, it's okay to leave the printer powered on. Sleep mode automatically puts the printer into a lower-power state after a set period of time of non-use. The printer returns to its normal power state when you send another print or scan job.
