Hi,

I'm trying to re-install my printer, also tried as administrator, but I'm getting the same error message ' "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."

I uninstall everything to make a new clean installation, but still not wroking.

I ran de commands suggestes but still getting the same error:

C:\WINDOWS\system32> net start spooler
The requested service has already been started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2182.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>sc config spooler depend= rpcss
[SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS

C:\WINDOWS\system32>

I check the HP network configuration page and I have an IP address, I'm able to ping the address from this laptop.

I have an HP laptop and I have Windows 10.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marilu

Thanks for replying with the results. 🙂

The HP Solution Center will not work on Windows 10 and maybe that is the reason it is failing to detect the printer.

Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor only to fix printing issue as of now.

For scanning, you may use the HP Scan and Capture app. It works like a charm on Windows 10.

Hope this helps. Good luck! 🙂

I would like to take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. I understand that you have an HP Officejet 4500 printer and it does not install and there's a message saying "The specified service does not exist as an installed service." I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I recommend you to perform the below steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a solution:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Again go to "run" window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Now restart your computer.
  • Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
  • Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
  • Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
  • Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
  • Please download and install the drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2hKOTJf

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

Hi Kazi,

I was able to move a bit further in the intallation, but the installation process is stuck on the Network Setup.

I have the message 'Temporarily connect your printer to this computer using  a USB cable. This will enable the network settings....  '

I was able to install the application HP solution center, but it can't open because the printer is not installed correctly, it says 'HP solution center canot run because your device installation is not complete'

I tried with the USB but it's not finding the printer.

When I was doing the intallation, I was geting the message, select the printer you want to install, bu the box was empty, and if I clicked on 'My printer is not listed', I was just going back to the same message.

I pinted once more the Hp network configuration page and my printer got an IP 192.168.2.23

I'm also able to ping this IP.

Any ideas why is not recognizing the printer neither in the network nor with the USB cable?

Thanks you for your help.

Hi Kazi,

If I add the printer in the Control Panel ->Add a device, I'm able to add the printer and I can print, but the HP solution center is not working, it says 'HP solution center cannot run because your intalation device is not complete'

If I tried to complete the installation, I get stuck on the message that says 'My printer is not listed' and asking me to plug the USB, but it's not working.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Kazi,

I tried to fix the issue on the Control Panel, but I'm getting the message:

some usb 2.0 devices are incompatible with usb 3.0. Plugging them into a USB 2.0 port can fix the problem

I don't undertand why is working when I added the printer in the Control Panel, but with the HP driver?

So right now I have two printer configured, one with the Driver that you recommend to download and the other one that I added in the control panel, the first one doesn't work, the second one does.

The first one was added as: HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m and the one added in the Control panes is listed as HPA7778A (HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m).

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Kazi,

Thank you so much for your reply.

By trying to install the app that you mentioned, I end up on this link OJ_AIO_4500_G510g-m_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe, that allowed me to download this dirver for the printer Officejet 4500, and this installed the HP solution center and the printer in the network.

Somehow, this driver find the printer in the network, even though I had a warning, something about not detecting the status of the printer, I continue with the installation and now I have the printer and the HP Solution Center working just great.

I must mention that before proceding with the new driver, I make sure that I removed all the printers installed and the drivers as you recommeneded on your first reply.

Thank you so much for your help, it was very helpful and great.

You might close this post, issue is solved 🙂

Sincerely,

Marilu
