No solutions have been offered. HP wheels seem to grind very slowly...

In Printer Properties or the window which confirms for Print, you have option to check - Print in Grey Scale. If you check that, it will print in Black.
However, the color print consumes all toner cartridges even if you are printing only black & white pages. This is the mechanism of the printer technology(but the usage is very less).

If you have requirement for only black & white pages printing, then you may purchase HP Mono Laserjet Printer.

My print window gives me the choice of color or black and white. Choosing black and white results in color output. This is not a feature but a bug.

Try updating the Firmware on the Printer which could help for bugs.

Also, for testing purpose, you may try connecting or setup the printer on another machine freshly & check, if that helps to isolate the issue.

I'll try to connect with my Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

with Print in GRAYSCALE on, you would still using color toner.so if you would like to print pure black and white, you should turn the GRAYSCALE OFF.

another thing you could try is enable "hp easy color "option in drive property

Still no helpful response. I do NOT have a box that allows for black and white when printing. How about a HP response that gives step-by-step instructions how to get it?
