- Unable to print on HP p1102w from Mac (OS 10.12)

I upgraded to Sierra (OS v10.12) and installed the HP driver for the P1102W (hp says its compatible with Mac OS 10.12) which I downloaded from the hp website. I then added the printer in the Printers/Scanner menu on the mac.
The mac is detecting the printer OK (status on the mac printer menu shows idle when the printer is turned on), but nothing comes out when a document is printed. There is no error message (the mac thinks the job has printed successfully).
Swapped the USB cable to rule out a defective cable.
Pls help.

Try resetting the printting system as following:
*Be aware that resetting the printer system will remove any existing print queue and reset any customized driver settings.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Select Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your product in the Printers list in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system .
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user Name and Password .
Click OK . The printing system resets.
Next click the plus sign and select your printer, within the Use drop down menu be sure to select the HP Printer model and press Add.
Next ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.
Now try printing and check for any differemce.
If the same remain, what application do you print from? may you see any difference while trying another application such as TextEdit or Safari?
