HP Recommended

I am currently experiencing a critical issue with an HP LaserJet Pro M404dn printer. The device is stuck on the screen displaying “Downloading… 00%”, and I am unable to get past this state.

I have already attempted the following steps without success:

  • Connected the printer via USB to a Windows PC (shows as “Firmware Update Required”).

  • Attempted firmware update using the latest utility and files from the HP website.

  • Extracted the .ful2 firmware file from the update package, but it is not compatible with older recovery methods or recognized by HP’s standard firmware update utility.

  • Tried installing drivers and HP Smart – printer remains unresponsive.

  • Attempted manual recovery by renaming the .ful2 file and using a USB flash drive, but the printer does not initiate firmware installation.

At this point, I kindly request one of the following:

  1. A Firmware Recovery Utility compatible with the HP LaserJet Pro M404dn to resolve the “Downloading… 00%” issue, or

  2. A .BDL version of the latest firmware that I can deploy using the HP Firmware Update Utility via USB.

This issue is urgent as the printer is required for daily operations, and we are currently unable to print.

Thank you for your assistance and looking forward to your prompt response.
