Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am experiencing toner-like vertical color smudges all along the left and right edges of printed pages. I've run cleaning pages and drum cleaning from the setup but still no good. Is it the TBI that's faulty or some other part that is dirty with toner? - Thanks

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand that you have the print quality issue with LaserJet CP1525nw printer.

I'll be more than glad to help you out.

Here is a list of steps that commonly resolve issues:

  1. Please make sure that you are using the Genuine HP Cartridges.

  2. Does this issue show up only on a specific media type (i.e. labels, envelopes, pre-printed forms, heavy or moist media, etc.)Check the paper type and quality and verify the media meets HP's media specifications.

  3. If the whole page has streaks lines, the print density adjustment may be too light or EconoMode might be turned on. Adjust the print density, and disable EconoMode in the printer properties.

  4. Run a cleaning page (3 Times) from the printer menu/ Device Settings or by going to HP Toolbox

  5. Print/Copy 10 Blank sheets.

I recommend you try the steps from the link below and check if that fixes the issue : Click here

Please complete the steps and let me know the outcome.

I'll be eagerly waiting to assist you with same,

Cheers 🙂

Have a wonderful day.

Hi and thanks for the tips. I followed your suggestions and have concluded that it is the print cartridges that are at fault. They are not HP but a knock-off brand. The reason I suspect the cartidges is because printing the 10 blank pages yields no problems with vertical stripes, while printing a B&W page yields a tiny gray edge on the right side and printing a color page produces the vertical smudges. I will order HP cartridges and see what happens. I think it will resolve the problem. - Dave
