Video on how to remove pickup roller on HP P1102w?

Purchased this printer in April 2015.  Recently, it occasionally does not pick up the paper or misfeeds.  Looked at the instruction manual, and one of the suggestions was to clean the pickup roller.  The instructions said to "release the small, white tabs on each side of the pickup roller, and rotate the pickup roller towad the front." 

But I cannot figure out how to release the white tabs.  The manual picture shows arrows pointing horizontally and vertically at the tabs.  I have tried moving the tabs in both directions but cannot get the roller out.

Have looked for a video on how to do it, but cannot find one for this particular model.  If there is a video, can anyone provide a link as to where it is?  If there is no video, can someone provide guidance on how to release the white tabs?
