I got a Laserjet 3015 and plugged it into my Win10 machine via USB.
Downloaded a driver from the selection offered on HP's page and the thing worked immediately.
Then I had a system crash because of a corrupted hard drive.
So had to do a Macrium restore to a previous image.
Now I cannot successfully install the printer.
I suspect it may be because the first time I luckily installed the correct driver.
This time I have selected first one I don't remember doing last time: the USB driver.
Then I've done the driver, I think.
Then I've done the 'management' driver.
I think maybe I've done the wrong drivers or done them in the wrong order.
And now I think perhaps I should get advice as to which to install and in what order.
And how to prepare the ground: to uninstall if necessary, that sort of thing.
And would it be better to use the parallel connection?
And does it complicate things/upset things having the parallel driver and usb driver installed at the same time.
I am somewhat uncertain and would appreciate straight direction if it's possible to get some.. ?
regards,
ab

Success.
Following a combination of both of the above suggestions I was able to install it and have just printed out 30 pages.
I didn't get a prompt mid-install for the usb cable.
I never saw the install, had to go away, came back and computer was switched off - maybe the MS update that I saw threatening to start before I went out did that.
I switched back on and started again.
This time when the option for manual install came up on top of the window saying it was installing I chose manual install and did it.
I got two HP printers in the list. One seems to print to file. The other one is 'digitally signed' and that's the one that works.
Thanks for the help. I don't know who to choose as 'the answer' - perhaps a moderator can work that out?

ab

Remove all drivers you previously installed on a computer (this is very important).
Restart the computer, and download Universal print driver PCL6 ( no other driver will be needed).
Do not connect printer and computer with USB cable.
Start installation, and follow installation instructions, do not connect a printer to the computer until in the middle of installation you are prompted to connect your printer, not earlier. The computer will recognise the printer and the installation will automatically continue.
Finish installation, restart the computer, and it should work.

Add it directly by manual.
Add new printer -> Local printer -> (connected port) Dot4-001 -> find 3015 in HP menu list
If 3015 is not in there then click Windows update at right bottom side waiting for its finishing then go back and find it again.
It will be fine.
