Keep getting white spots on prints, they are always in a straight line and if you rub them the print on the edge of the spot rubs off. My gut feeling is an issue with the fuser unit.

Your feeling is likely to be correct. I would advise you to double check it though. Remove the fuser unit and take a look at its cylinder surfaces, spin them and try to see these spots on it. Sometimes it is just a piece of dirt there, but some other times the fuser just got damaged.
