MFP M227
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

The display on the devise says that the WiFi is turned OFF.

I just need to turn it ON.  Then it will be discoverable and  I can install it for wireless use.

Thanks!

Hi @DaleC130

Welcome to HP Forums. I have reviewed your post. I'd be happy to help you with the steps to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

To better assist you -

1) What's the exact model name of the printer? Does your printer have a "Touchscreen control panel" or a "2-line control panel"?

2) Can you send us a picture of the screen with the error?

Let's try these steps -

Solution#1  Reboot the devices -

1) Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer/ mobile devices.

2) Wait for 60 seconds.

3) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.

4) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

5) Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.

Solution#2  Network Defaults -

For printers with "Touchscreen control panels" -

Swipe your finger across the display to scroll through the menus. Tap on the Setup menu (Wrench or a gear-like icon) > Network Setup > Restore Defaults.

For printers with "2-line control panels" -

Press the Setup button > Network Setup > Restore Defaults.

Solution#3  Run the Wireless Setup -

1) From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe left, and then touch Setup.
2) Swipe up, and then touch Network Setup.
3) Touch Wireless Menu, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard. The wizard searches for and displays a list of available networks.
4) Touch the name of your network.
If the list does not contain your network name, enter it manually.

  • Touch Enter SSID.
  • Type the network name using the on-screen keyboard.
  • When you finish entering the new network name, touch OK. The printer attempts to connect to the network.

5) When prompted, enter the WEP or WPA passphrase.

  • Type the key or passphrase using the on-screen keyboard.
  • When you finish entering the WEP or WPA passphrase, touch OK. The printer connects to the network.

If the issue still persists, you may try the steps mentioned in this document.

Let me know how that goes.

The printer is not connecting to router.

The WiFi icon in the top right corner of the printer control pad has a circle with a red line through it.

I have reset the router and powered off and then back on the printer and still no luck.

The printer worked perfectly for months.  There have been no chanes to the router, the modeum or anything else.

Please help me.

@DaleC130

Thanks for getting back to us. Have you had a chance to try the steps mentioned above?

Also, are you using a dual band router?

Do you have any other devices connected to the same network?

Let me know.
