My new Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series laptop has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port. I prefer using a mouse instead of the touch pad so the mouse is plugged into the USB 2.0 port. Does anyone know if the HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 will recognize and print from a USB 3.0 port?

I've reviewed your post and after carefully looking into your printer specifications, here's what I found: The HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 only supports the - USB 2.0 PORT.
Which means, it wouldn't work on the USB 3.0 port.
I hope that answers your query,
