After upgrading to Windows 10 I'm trying to download new drivers for my PSC1510 but when I get to the window to connect USB with computer it doesn't recognize the connection and won't complete the install. My computer sees the printer so must recognize connection. But I can't print anything without the driver installation completing. HELP! Thanks

Hello, @Borneodiver - Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I'd be glad to be of your assistance!
I understand that you are unable to install the Windows 10 drivers for PSC 1510 printer. I am afraid that your printer is an older model and hence Windows 10 drivers are not available for this model.
I would recommend you use the Windows built-in drivers to tackle this issue. Windows 10 OS comes with the built-in printer drivers. Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.
Check http://hp.care/2nxKJv8 for additional instructions.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

Hi Dvortex.....On the HP support site for psc1510 the write up for driver download says it is updated for Windows 10. In any case, the printer seems to be working OK now & maybe the windows drivers just automatically installed as you suggested and solved the problem. Many thanks for your help!

Hi again, Dvortex....looks like I spoke too soon. While I was able to connect with my laptop & successfully print, I thought the problem was solved. However, I then tried to connect the printer to my desktop computer (which is also running windows 10) where I will normally have it hooked up. In this case, when downloading the drivers & associated software from the HP support site, I had the same problem as I experienced with the laptop...that is, the installation went fine until it got to the point of asking to connect the USB...then it seems to not recognize the connection & will not finalize the installation. ...just gives a box to continue without the connection & connect the computer later. Unlike with my laptop, the desktop will not print. ..I just get a printer error message. The message shows my printer connection through usb port 2. I've tried going through the installation with the USB connected from the beginning of the download and with waiting until the prompt to connect and get the same results both ways. Still needing help. Thanks

Hello, @Borneodiver
No problem, I'm here to help 🙂
Let's install the Windows alternate drivers for the printer. Try the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2ocFbop
Try the Step 1 - Step 2.
Thanks, Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

I'll give it a try tomorrow & let you know. I'm curious why the HP driver support page specifically says the download has been updated to support Windows 10, but doesn't work? I'm hoping the scan all features will be functional. Thanks,

I've been messing with this for hours & still not getting anywhere. Of significance, the steps that were recommended for manually installing windows drivers applies specifically to windows 8....supposedly windows 10 drivers should install automatically. Anyway when I go through the windows 8 installation steps, all goes well through " installation successful." Then wnen going to the next step to configure the drivers, I open the properties tab & look for the ports tab.....but there is no ports tab there so unable to change port to USB. Next in genersl tab there is no selection to print a test page. Maybe both of these steps apply to a driver installation on windows 8 system?? In any case, all attempts to print a page get the error that it can't print. I've moved the usb to different ports that work fine with mouse, keyboard, etc., so don't see a problem with USB ports. Also, the psc1510 computer is shown in "devices & printers", so must be seen by computer. Repeated attempts to install the1510 printer drivers for windows 10 from the HP support site only get as far as "connect usb cable to computer" & can't go further to compete the installation. Can anyone explain why the HP support page for this printer has the download for the drivers for windows 10 system that doesn't work? I appreciate your help to try a workaround for installing windows drivers, but don't understand why this is necessary or why the HP driver download doesn't work. This is getting very frustrating.
Thanks for your patience & continued help...sure would like to get this printer up & running properly.
