Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a wireless router connected to my HP 4350tn via usb cable to receive wireless printing from my laptop (Windows 10) in a separate room of my house. However, I have not had any luck so far. Could someone walk me through the proper steps to use this wired router as a repeater and connect it to my primary internet wifi router? The internet router is not located in a place that would allow me to connect it to my printer via usb, hence the repeater idea. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Try to connect 4350tn to  wireless router with RJ45 wire line and it's better to make it an static IP addresss.

Add a new IP printing printer from  your laptop then  you can wireless printing from your laptop.

I have made the cable connection as suggested, but am a bit iffy on the second part of your reply. Could you be a little more specific regarding the IP address? Thx.

After connectint RJ45 cable into 4350tn from the 4350tn's panel prints a config report it should have two or three page of reports and you should find the IP address given from router such as 192.168.0.102.

If yes change the 192.168.0.102 from DHCP/BOOTIP to Static from 4350tn's front panel.

Then from the laptop add new printer automaticlly it should find 4350tn and add it automaticlly if not you may have to check you laptop's IP address to see if it has the same IP range as 4350tn like as 192.168.0.33. If your laptop's IP address is 192.168.1.45 for examples then you need to change the IP add. from 4350tn's panel into 192.168.1.102 then back to laptop and add new printer again. It should work.

In short, you need to make both your printer and laptop at the same range of IP add such as 192.168.1.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx which 3rd number of the IP address's "1" or "0" should be the same if not it should be changed into the same from printer's side.

Sorry for my poor Engljsh........

Computer is 192.168.0.187

Printer is 192.168.0.2

Struggling to change DHCP/BOOTIP to Static. Computer not finding the 4350tn that is wired to router...not sure if IPs needs to be changed...

You can change the IP address from 4350's panel and change it into static.

Not sure it's right or not it should be like that   System Setting -> I/O -> EIO1 (or Embbed Network?) -> Manual ? -> IP address

Then from Win10 add printer automaticly if not work add it by manual directly by input the 4350's IP.

I have found the EIO1, but it doesnt have a setting called static. I selected auto IP...still no joy...

Success!!! Had to add IP manually, but it printed the test page 🙂

Next question: can i use router that is connected to the printer as a 'repeater' for my internet router? it is really a pain switching between internet and printer routers...thx again.

HP Recommended

Not static it should has Auto/DHCP/BootTp/Manual....... and choose the Manual which it means static.

And in Win10 add new printer and let  it find automaticly..... if not found then add it manually.

Let say if the 4350's IP is 192.168.0.43 then adding new printer when Win10 is finding click the left low side's "My printer is old...." then in the next page choose input IP address and key-in 192.168.0.43 and find 4350 in the menu list if not there click right low side "Windows Update" waiting for its endding and go back finding again.

Not really know if your router can be a repeater with internet router, but why don't you connect 4350 and internet router directly with a single RJ45 cable? If you do so maybe you will get another IP address from the internet router.

Hi.

I read all your posts, and I'm a little confused about your setup.

So, you have an "internet router" connected to a "wifi router".  You mentioned that you're switching something between the two routers.  What does that mean?  What are you switching, exactly?

Let's talk about your "internet router".  Is it actually a router, or is it simply a modem?  How many ethernet ports or on the back?

Once this is properly set up, no switching of anything should be necessary.  I just want to get a better idea of what your setup is.

Good luck!

Matt
