Apple iMac 27" 4K Retina Display
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello,

I have a ten year old HP printer that has never let me down. Occassionally it disconnects from the iMac/Wireless network and reconnects itself a few days later. However for the last fortnight this has not been the case.

I have not changed my internet supplier - only ever been BT. I have run a wireless network test report and under Wirelss on it says "Fail" and the Network Name is showing an old BT Hub even though it has been working on the new one for over 2 years.

Also on the diagnosics summary apart from 'wireless on' all the other replies are either 'not run' or '0"

I don't think i have the original set up disk and that wouldn;t help as the iMac doesn't have a CD drive!

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Restoring the printer network settings to factory settings and then reconnecting the printer to your home WiFi may resolve the issue. In order to setup the printer on a wireless network, we need to temporarily connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer. This transfers necessary wireless information to the printer from the Mac. Let's try these steps:

1.) On the product control panel, press the OK button.

2.) Use the arrows buttons to select the Network Setup menu, and then press the OK button.

3.) Use the arrows buttons to select the Restore defaults option, and then press the OK button. The product automatically restarts.

4.) Disconnect the USB cable from the printer if its connected.

5.) Download and run HP Easy Start from here.

6.) Follow the on-screen instructions on HP Easy Start to set up the printer connection and install the software. (During the setup you will be prompted to temporarily connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer, please make sure that you connect the printer USB cable only when you see the prompt)

Let me know how it goes!
