LJ MFP M281

Can wifi and wifi direct be turned on the a LJ MFP M281fdw. I can not find anywhere in the documentation if both can be on at the same time. The users are complaining that they can not always see the printer.

  The printer is connected to the network via WIFI. There are Microsoft and Apple machines also on the wireless network. There are also other mobile devices using WIFI direct to print.  Do I need to connect this printer via ethernet, turn off WIFI, and leave WIFI direct on?  The printer is in a show room and most of the devices using this printer I do not control or even know what they are.

Thanks for any works of wisdom.

@Brad_Moon Welcome to HP Forums!

The best way to use the printer as you've mentioned is by using the ethernet (wired) connection to print one printer, here's how if you need help:

HP Printers - Wired Network Printer Setup (Mac) > Click here

HP Printers - Wired Network Printer Setup (Windows) > Click here

And ket other print via the Wifi-Direct, and here's all you need to know about how that could be used: Click here

I'm afraid this seems to be the only way of using two functions at the same time.

Thank you Riddle,

  That is what I was guessing.

  For the engineers creating new printers, if the limitation is still valid on a new model, Please make this exclusion more clear in the documentation or better yet do not let the user interface allow both to be on at the same time.

Thanks for your time!
