My printing command do not allow to find how to set up the use of tray 2. Tray 1 is fine, so not a paper size or type issue. Try 2 looks fine and there is no stuck paper. It is all about how to tell the printer to use tray 2. The "forward-OK-backward" buttons on the printer do not bring me to a choice of which tray to use!

Tray 2 is the default tray, if you have standard size letter plain media loaded and you have the settings on the printer for paper type to state that. As well, it will depend on how you have Tray 1 configured and what type of media you have in it. Typically your driver should tell the printer which tray to use. Set the driver default to tray 2 and it will print from tray 2 as long as the print job matches the paper type and size that you have loaded.

Sorry, but your solution suggests that I can "configure" the trays, but that IS the problem: I can't !!!! After downloading/installing the latest software for this printer on two macs, It worked once on one of the computers, and not after that. On the Printer options (from the system prefs), it says that "The driver and optional hardware settings for shared printers can not be modified). So, I am stuck with the original problem.

Are you connecting directly with each computer? Your description suggests you are sharing the printer out which can cause issues because as the error states you cannot modify a shared printer as the installation is on another computer. Try connecting IP direct to the printer.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that that the computers reach the printer by its IP address, all linked by ethernet. I installed the "HP Easy Start.app" on my iMac yesterday, because I coud not use tray 2. That worked. But then, the other computer remained stuck on tray 1. So, I installed the app on this 2nd mac and now both are agin stuck with tray 1. Anyway, thanks for trying to help....
