1) Goto this page : https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-color-laserjet-enterprise-m553-series/7087331

and download the firmware into a USB flash disk of yours.

2) Turn off the printer

3) Insert that USB flash disk in the front USB port of the printer

4) Turn on the printer

5) Press X button when 1/8 appears (this will give you entry to the pre-boot menu)

6) Goto Administrator -> Partial Clean and press OK

7) Goto Download -> USB Thumbdrive and select the firmware and then OK

😎 After the download is complete, go back and select Continue

9) Let the printer boot itself. This may take several minutes.

When the printer will be at ready status, print again a supplies status page, and come here to us again with the results.

I hope that helps,

Cheers!

Hi @CPATaxProblemSo,

Have you replaced it with a HP genuine black cartridge?

Have you printed a Supplies Status page?

Awaiting further details,

Cheers!

Thank you so much for the reply!!!

Yes I used the GENUINE supply.  It gave me the low toner error from the moment I replaced it.

Can you help me  understand how to printa Supplies Status page?

Respectfully,

Okay....It says that I printed 5767 pages and that I installed the cartridge on 05 16 2016....which is incorrect!!!

Suggestions???

LOL

Thank you very much!

Black is 0%

All others are 80%

Can you print though normally and with a good quality, especially for black colour ?

What is the percentage of your old black cartridge? Print a supplies status page with that installed.

Yes...the other colors print like a champion with NO problems whatsover.

Unfortunately, I have already sent the old cartridge back.

The strange thing is that I noticed when I replaced the black  cartridgr a week or so ago, the low toner warning light NEVER did clear off but it printed okay for a while???

HP Recommended

The low toner warning can be set at various toner levels (eg. when toner is below 10% or below 30%, etc. depending on the user preference). That is only a reminder. The printer will still be able to print normally. When toner is very very low, nearly empty, then quality issues may arise.

I would suggest to download latest firmware for your printer model into a USB flash disk.

Then make a Partial Clean to your printer.

Then upgrade the firmware.

Do you have an operation panel with a keypad or with a touch screen?
