color laserjet pro mfp m277dw
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Hi

all pictures are printing way to dark and colours do not match. I installed the latest firmware today. I used the web interface and adjusted the "print density", at first only lowering the black density and then the other colors. I could get the picture brighter but never was able to match the colour on the picture in iPhoto or printing from other applications.

I also have an old HP InkJet Photosmart 2610 and it prints everything in matching colours using the same MacBook Pro 15" Retina running Yosemite 10.10.5

Any suggestions?

Hi CaptainPete,

I've bought this same printer last week and have exactly the same problem. If I do a searh on the internet, many people have this issue with this printer. I tried adjusting the color density and changed some general settings but nothing realy helped. I have read that the problem has to do with the driver, that you can't change the DPI. I don't know if the printer can be used with another driver that allows other DPI's...?

Sorry for my late reply, but the link didn't help me..

- We still have the standard cartridges that were in the printer when we bought him. We only printed like 50 pages so they are far from empty

- We have normal paper that works perfectly in our other printer so that is not the problem

- I've checked all settings. Adjusted them en set them back if they didn't help

- I've tried to print the same page from several different devices (Sony laptop with windows 10, HP laptop with windows 7, LG G4 with android 6, LG Nexus 5) and the print comes out all the same, with too dark colours.

One of the suggestions was to select the 600 dpi option in the print quality section of the properties but I don't have that option. That is what I tried to explain in my previous comment of 11 ‎11-11-2016 07:08 AM.

I think this would be the solution, having other quality option to select (like 600 dpi). However, I installed the proper driver on each device but can't change the dpi anywhere

I have the same issue. The Printer HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 prints images by design to dark as reported by many many users. See for e.g. http://uk.pcmag.com/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m277dw/45609/review/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m277dw.

@HP, go with this printer to the development team and let them fiddle around them self and solve this issue by providing a SW update.

Don't let the customers experiment for nothing and wasting time, expensive printer cartrige and paper. It won't help.

I am really upset, that HP still has not solved this issue allthough the printes is now a few years on market and is otherwise very good.

Having the same issue. I'm using my printer for my sticker shop. Wasted a lot of time trying to figue out  how to fix. Having to change colors in my photoshop just to make colors right . Wast of my time and money. Wish I would have known about the darker print before I bought this printer. Just very upset!!!

I have the same problem here.

Printer prints too dark. Settings to adjust the print density simply do nothing!

HP knew about this issu for months and nothing has been fixed.

I intend to return the printer and leave a terrible feedback on Amazon if no suitable solution is found within 5 days

Thank you in advance
