P1102W
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Last week I had a wireless connection between my iMac and my P1102W laserjet printer, but it has been disconnected  until now. I followed all of the instructions on the pdf user guide, but they did not work.

Thanks

Alright, the printer seems to have lost its wireless settings. Ideally, to sort this out you can run the printer's setup on a Windows PC. If this is not an option, then do the following:

  1. Make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector.
  2. If the printer is connected through the USB cable to your Mac, remove it.
  3. Turn the printer off.
  4. While the printer is powered off, hold down both buttons on the top of the printer.
  5. While you are holding the buttons, turn the printer on.
  6. Continue holding the buttons for ten seconds.
  7. Set Safari to be your default web browser.
  8. Click on your Apple icon, System Preferences, and Printers and Scanners.
  9. Hold down the control key and click on the icon of your printer on the left.
  10. Click on Reset Printing System.
  11. Connect the USB cable from the Mac to the printer.
  12. Click on the printer on the left.
  13. On the right click on Setup, then Utility, open Printer Utility, and EWS Server.
  14. In this window click on the Network tab.
  15. Click on Wireless on the left.
  16. Click on Enable.
  17. In the list, select your network name.
  18. Click on the button with the arrows.
  19. Select WPA/WPA2 as your encryption type.
  20. Enter your wireless password in this window.
  21. Click on Apply.
  22. If the wireless light on the printer goes solid blue, remove the USB cable.
  23. Return to Apple, System Preferences, and Printers and Scanners.
  24. Hold down the control key and click on the icon of your printer on the left.
  25. Click on Reset Printing System.
  26. Click on the plus in the bottom left corner.
  27. Select your printer from the list.
  28. Click on the box next to Use and select your printer from the list.
  29. Click on Add.

Please let me know if you are able to print. If you are not, please tell me what happened while following these directions.

Hey @sabokro,

I see that you are having some issue with your Laserjet P1102w Printer not communicating with your router. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. While the printer is powered off remove the power cable from the back of the router for one minute.
  3. When the lights return on the router turn the printer on.

At this point you should be able to print. If you can not print, please let me know if you have a blinking blue light, a solid blue light, or no blue light on the printer. Once I know that I will be better able to assist you.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to resolve your issue, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I have the same problem but with photosmart premium C310 printer.

Although the printer is showing OK in 'settings' whenever I try to print anything I get a message saying the 'printer is not connected'.

Grateful for any suggestions.
